Reference Block No.1 (DIN EN ISO 9934-2)

Reference Block No.1 (DIN EN ISO 9934-2) – Remanent magnet (90MnCrV8, 50 mm x 10 mm) with rough grinding cracks and fine stress corrosion cracks. Differently strong flux leakages appear over the cracks caused by the magnetic field of the remanent reference body. The more sensitive the test product, the more clear and contrasty the crack indications will appear.

Application

Immerse or spray reference block 1 with test product.
After the excess test product is removed the indication image is assessed in compliance with the viewing
conditions described in EN ISO 3059 „Non-destructive testing – Penetrant testing and magnetic particle testing –
Viewing conditions“ (under UV(A) radiation for fluorescent suspensions, otherwise at day light).
The evaluation of magnetic powder suspensions is performed by visual or metrological comparison of the
indications with the reference image.

Areas of application

• Periodic control of indications through comparison with the related reference image of the cleaned
  reference block.
• The comparison will be performed under equal test conditions as used for the preparation of the reference
  image.
• Quality comparison of different magnetic powders.
• Quality assurance of magnetic powders while working with the MT testing bench.
• Surveillance of equal doses at automatic MT testing facilities.
